Macomb Petland started out as Pisces Pets in the 1970′s. David Snyder and Chuck Seikman purchased the pet store from the bank in the 1980′s, moved the store to it’s current location, and also changed the name to Petland.
Thom Lawson purchased the store in the spring of 1991 and changed the name to Macomb Petland. Lawson has owned and operated the store since then.
Macomb Petland has gone through two remodels since 1991. The most recent, and extensive, was finished in the summer of 2007.
Macomb Petland installed seven state-of-the-art Casco aquarium module units to better display all of the varieties of tropical and cold water fish they offer.
A custom designed reptile display area was added, featuring the new ZooMed brand naturalist glass terrariums, ZooMed heat pads and ceramic heat units. A 75 gallon vertical terrarium display unit, featuring a 4 foot waterfall flowing into a 25 gallon reflecting pool, caps off the rebuild of the reptile area.
A new display area for puppies was added featuring all fiberglass modules from General Cage to keep the puppies safe and clean.
A new tile floor was laid down replacing the old carpet.
In the Spring of 2007 Macomb Petland won the “BEST PET STORE IN MACOMB” honor. The survey was conducted by the Western Courier newspaper.
